Mission Statement
The mission of CMU is to plan with and support adults and children with mental disabilities, and their families when appropriate, to live full and inclusive lives within their communities. This will be achieved by providing support to access resources, both within the community and within the public systems for mental health, intellectual and developmental disability programs and early intervention services.
CMU will be guided by principles as expressed by:
- A belief in the right of all individuals to self-determination.
- Respect for the individual's/family's opinion and their right to participate fully in decisions affecting their lives.
- Respect for each individual's uniqueness.
- A commitment to focus on abilities and building upon successes.
- A belief in the value of each individual being connected to a community and in the importance of support that promotes dignity and inclusion.
- A commitment to working together with all service providers to achieve the best outcomes for all CMU consumers including services of a co-occurring nature.
- A commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards and practices.
